HELP MY baby DUCKING IS WALKING ODDLY :(

I'm sorry it took so long to reply.i hope you were able to get that peeping baby back under mom or in an incubator so it can finish cooking and hatching.
Maybe mom got confused. I'm glad to hear your duckling is doing well! She's been on my mind a lot.
I'm terribly sorry about your guinea. I hope the babies come out of it okay. I pray for your flock :)

Hi there, thanks so much in asking for an update, I have had had a terrible day today sad and happy. Firstly I had a guinea that has been sitting and her keets were due any day, but I found her dead this morning, which was just heartbreaking, thankfully I have a chicken whom always want s to be a mum, so I gave her as many eggs as I could and she has hatched two and have another one peeping as I write this......I have cried a river today, as my guinea was just a beautiful girl and sadly my dog got out of her pen by sheer bad luck as it is dig proof, jump proof all of that and she is a gentle dog, we only lock her up at night to keep her safe.....the padlock had been forgotten to be put on and only the latch was on, which would normally be fine, but we had wind...

In regards to my ducks well the patient is just fine and going fantabulously. I am so happy that you picked up on the problem and that I got great advice from everyone..Now I need more advice.

Is it normal for the duck to roll out an egg from the nest as it is peeping? I went to check them and to my surprise their was an egg which was out of the nest? I picked it up and thought oh dear maybe its a bad egg, but to my surprise it was peeping...do I need to put this back under her or is this what they do, I noticed she had another under her that was peeping....Today has just been so full on I am concerned as to what to do with this egg that has been rolled out or pushed out of the nest? Any advice or is this all normal? look forward to hearing from everyone..
I'm so sorry to hear about your Guinea, very sad accident. But so happy to hear your getting some babies after she was so faithful to sit again. Try putting the egg back, sometime first time moms don't understand whats going on, just keep watch to make sure she keeps it under her.

Hi there, I woke up this morning to at least 4 ducklings so far, I am not sure what is under her at the moment, but did count 4! The one that had been pushed out or rolled out? I actually placed the egg back under mum...I am so happy that she has some babies, she lost her first complete clutch and has been desperate to be a mum, so know she is...I still have 5 eggs left, as there were 9 all up, so heres hoping she has a wonderful batch of 9 ducklings.......I hope to get some photo's up today :)

Thanks Subhanalah and Miss Lydia, yes I made the decision to put the egg back under mum and kept an eye on her for a while, then went to bed and was up at the crack of dawn to 4 ducklings so far...and no more eggs out of the nest! I also woke up to 4 beautiful baby keets, 2 born yesterday and 2 over night, and all appeared fine this morning, with one looking like it was not that long out of the egg, I should have moved her in a small little corner that I have set up in their area, it is next to the foster mum, she can talk to her there and she can nudge them, but I didn't I just left her under mum, I think this may have been a mistake with the other 3 much more alert and with still 5 eggs or so under her, it appears to have been squashed or perhaps she died as she was weak...its all a learning curve, but I hate the thought that I may have contributed to his and same goes when my duckling had her problem, I am just not educated enough...although I have read and read, but sometimes reading just confuses me as to what to do! hence why I loveeeeeeeeeee this site so much. it is great that there are caring people out there, that have so much life experience with ducks, guinea's, chickens. etc etc etc..

Yes, Miss Lydia it was such a tragic accident and I am hoping and praying that my lil keets do well, just so sad that their beautiful faithful mum is not there to have the experience that she so wanted.....I can not believe how tiny they are and cute well that is an understatement! I will keep you posted and one again thanks.....

I'm hearing you talk of all these cute babies and not seeing any pictures! I'd love to see some cuteness.
Sorry for the one that didn't make it, it happens sometimes and here's nothing you could have done differently. In all honesty, they have a much better shot at survival because of your great doting care!
