Hi there, a couple days ago I noticed that my year old chicken's butt became swollen, red and bloody. It looks like part of her stomach is coming out of her butt. Also, she's been pooping yellow goo. She's the lowest on the pecking order due to her legs being sprained, I don't know if that's relevant. Please help cause she looks like shes in so much pain and she screams occasionally.. I put her in a cage alone away from the other hens and I put water and feed.

I had this exact same issue. When I inspected the chicken she had a ton of poop that had been drying on the feathers and was causing her to be severely backed up. I ended up cutting all of the disgusting feathers and washed her butt off and using a gentle hose sprayed the rectal area. Kept an eye on her and repeated this the next day and then she started pooping on her own with no issues. That was 2 years ago and she's healthy as can be now!

Look up ventral gleet aka cloacitis. This is what it most likely is.
