Hello, sorry I haven't introduced myself in the new members section, but I promise I will when all this calms down... I need urgent guidance. We live in South West Scotland, Uk and there is no poultry vet specialist around here.
I have 4 ducks and 1 drake, all runners. I have hatched myself the drake and 2 of the girls in July, so they're 7 months.
5 days ago I noticed my drake going quite and spending some time by himself which is unusual. Then 2 days later I found him sitting unable to stand up.
The last few weeks, he had got closer to one of my girl who's not his sister. She's been begging him to do something with her but he kinda doesn't really get it. He's not ready. Then we had severe frosts and all the water icing over. I made sure the ice was broken everywhere everyday, but there wasn't many places they could dunk or swim. They've spent a lot of time at the bottom of the field where a big puddle gathers.
So when I found him on Wednesday afternoon I called my vets and they gave him anti-biotics. After two days of no improvement I went back to the vets with his sweetheart who's also displaying some symptoms. They took samples of blood and poo for the lab but I won't have the results for several days.
I'll try to post a video. My drake doesn't eat but does drink. His poo is bright green and watery. He can't stand his left foot is now clenched (I'm sure both were yesterday). I've been trying to force feed him a bit but often he starts by throwing up clear mucus. I'm wondering if it could be lead poisoning given the other duck also has some symptoms although they're both very bright and love when I give them a bath.
Any hope for my boy? thank you
