HELP MY DUCKLING

Pics
Probably two hours ago which was moist oatmeal
The problem is they always run out so idk what I'm doing wrong like how much am I supposed to give and for the water it either runs out or I have to refill and clean because of the wood shavings so it is quite a handful
Fill a large container up with layer feed. The calcium wont harm them for one more night, and it will be much more nutritous than oatmeal. First, fill the container then cover the pellets in a thin layer of water. squish/crumble them with your hands until you have a mash. That will make it easier for them to eat. Give them that free choice until you can get flock raiser crumble.

I'm going to have to tap out soon, its pretty late here. I'll check in again the morning and wish the best of luck to you! If you're worried about the bedding, you could put paper towels or puppy pads down until you can get different bedding. It will probably be fine for the night though.
Also, have you had water they can dunk their heads in? Ducks need to dunk their heads to clean out their nares. If they don't have dunk-able water, that may be contributing to his breathing issues. If that is a problem, the vet will be able to flush out his nares for you. Just let her know that may be a concern.

They need feed and water 24/7
Water needs to be deep enough to dunk the heads
What is your water set up like ?

Can I ask when you got these ducks and where from ? Did they not inform you guys of duck care ?
Her brother impulse bought them a couple of weeks ago, probably from a feed store. According to an earlier post, she bought chicks after doing research, and then he bought ducklings because he wanted to. He didn't do any research and got bored of them, now she is taking over there care I believe. Thats what I got out of a response she posted earlier.

My set up was a bit bigger but I didn’t put shavings around the feed or water.
If you can just have shavings on one side and feed and water on the other. This helps to keep shavings out of the dishes
I agree give them the Layer crumble For tonight if they are 3 weeks they should be able to eat it without trouble swallowing but need water at all times especially with feed in there
Are they still panting while breathing ? If so move the heat lamp higher or more away from the area
If you can get a little more sugar water into him then do that.
Also I never put really cold water just cool
That way they would dunk more
Yes it’s messy but very important for ducklings
Let’s hope he can make the night and please get him to a vet if possible. Also get grower feed , nutritional yeast and vitamin B complex for all the ducklings tomorrow so you can make sure the others stay healthy
Sometimes ducklings struggle. We don’t always know why and it’s really hard to watch
Try to rest some tonight.

I really wish these feed stores would offer simple instructions on care. Sure would make things a lot easier. Especially if they sold them the ducks and chicks then sold them layer feed
I have just started to sell and I give this info to my buyers. I want them to have healthy strong ducks

They have very fragile necks... I lost my first female that way. If it's alive, keep it warm. You can use your fingertip or a straw to give it water. Just a little bit at a time. Keep any other ducklings away from it. If the little duckling is injured they could make it worse. If it doesn't get up and start moving in a couple of hours, that would be a bad sign. It may have a broken neck and be paralyzed, or it may be a bad strain. Only a veterinarian can say for certain. I would contact one first thing in the morning.
It's really a gut instinct kind of thing... I'd check every 20 min. If there's no change after an hour check in another hour. Still no change? Check in the morning and be prepared for a trip to the vet if it is alive and paralyzed the poor thing will need humane aide that a veterinarian can best advise you of. I'll pray for your little one.

I know, it makes me really frustrated. Or at the very least point to to a good online source like BYC. All they would have to say is, "BYC (or another source) is a great place to find info on your new ducklings".
It is really frustrating, It think that info is so important.

Hmm, I'll see if Google has any answers. I'd be very concered to use that with my animals if it can cause cancer in people. I'd switch ASPA. Poultry have much more sensitive respiratory systems than us, so anything that affects us will definitely affect them. Not sure if thats whats causing the problem, but I'd still be concerned about it.
I gotta say, as a CA resident, that prop 65 warning is everywhere. I don't think that stuff is of concern. It's on doors to grocery stores, on multivitamins, on coffee. Everything in CA can cause cancer.
