Help ! My Emu is laying eggs now in Montana

Hi. I’m so glad you have also posted.
I am wondering the same thing. So far we have 5 eggs but I haven’t taken any from the nest.
Is your Emu leaving the nest when she isn’t laying?

Good morning this is the first time our girl, Dublin, has laid, so we're very new at this. She is not staying on the nest. It has been bitterly cold this week (negative double-digits), so we have a heat lamp for them, and hung carpet in the stall opening so they can still get outside if they want to. Fortunately she did lay her first egg in the stall. We took it in the house and have it in an unheated room (approximately 58 degrees), per information found online. We will continue to collect eggs as she lays, otherwise they will freeze. We planned on letting our boy, Bilbo Baggins, hatch them, but don't know that he will if we put all the eggs back in the nest in the next few weeks. It's a catch 22: if we leave them, they will freeze, if we take them as they're laid, he may not lay on them when we return them to the nest. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Michiganer, how did your egg incubation go? We only got five this year and put each in the incubator a day after bringing inside.
