Two of my three babies had a fair amount of junk on their trunks this morning. I wasn’t able to get my hands on medicated chick starter, my husband did get me this neat starter chick growth and well being pack. I’m wondering if that’s doing it

my original flock, were a couple weeks old buy one get one at the farm store at end of chick season. And I had medicated chick starter, so I have never seen this.

it’s not watery, is this just normal transition to feed from hatching, like human babies first super nasty diapers??

Remove the stuck on poop under warm water with soap, and rub it off with fingers. Dry them well. You can apply a bit of veg oil or vaseline to the vent with a QTip. Check them daily for this for 10 days. This is called pasty butt, and if not removed they can die from not being able to pass droppings.

The products look fine. One is a vitamin electrolyte boost which would be okay to use one day in water. The 20% chick crumb looks fine. I would not use the Coop Recuperate since it has DE which can irritate their airways and eyes.

I haven’t opened the box of recuperate, I figured fine dust and tiny lungs were a bad idea. I did clean them off, I will put the Vaseline on! Thank you!!

There is a feed sprinkle as well,I can’t tell you what’s in it because I broke the bag and tossed it out, mainly looks like cracked corn and some pre/pro biotic voodoo sprinkles...

I'm not familiar with any of the products pictured. This is what I use:

https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/p...-vitamins-and-electrolytes-with-lactobacillus
It is vitamins, electrolytes and probiotics all in one.

I agree with Eggcessive that it is important to clean pasty butt daily (sometimes more than once a day). They can die from blockages.

I am home and addicted to giving these three more attention than they probably want 😂 so easy to clean the butts a couple/few times a day.

Thanks guys!! I knew you’d know ❤️
