I would be really careful about giving roosters away (or charging only a small price for them) on Craigslist.


In West Tennessee where I live, cock fighting is all over the place. These guys will tell you anything that they figure you want to hear so that you will give them your roosters, then they raise them to be mean enough to win the cockfights.


The treatment these roosters get is horrible, completely inhumane. And they get a pretty much never ending supply of fresh meat for their cockfights from places like Craigslist, from folks trying to get rid of their packing peanuts.

I don't want them to suffer but I'm not sure what to do with them beyond trying to sell them on craigslist.

If you really need to get rid of them, don't SELL them. Post them for free on craigslist or on a flyer at your local feed store.

I get rid of extra roosters ALL the time on craigslist, but I never sell them, only give them away.

If I still lived in Sycamore, I'd come get them. The 5 hour drive is sort of kills that idea though. I hope you find a home for them!
