Help... need to make a decision in regards to my Golden.

Well... The earliest 2 of them can get me in is in the middle of August (which is my appointment) and early september (the one the SPCA recommended)... I just don't get it. I'm trying to do right by my girl but it's not working. Too little too late I guess. The SPCA spays but only up to 30 pounds.

So I guess now my option is to just hound the vet I have the appointment with to get an earlier appointment.

I'm so disgusted! And they wonder why there are so many puppies. Those vouchers are great if it's with a participating vet, who happens to be your vet, your pup is up to date on all shots, and your dog doesn't require a battery of blood work before hand. Oh and make sure you don't go to the "new age" vet office that uses the laser this was the one who gave me the estimate of $490.

Ok that was a bit of a vent but I've been trying to keep calm for the kiddos. I'm sure all the receptionists have loved talking to me with my 2 year old screaming in the background...

WOOOHOOO I finally was able to get Bella in for a spay July 31st! For $185. It took some digging but I finally got her set. I'm not canceling the other appointment just yet because I don't know what will happen with this vet.

When this happened to my brothers dog our vet told them that they had 24 hours to get her fixed. For some reason after that it would be dangerous to the dog. She fixed her while she was still in heat with no problems.

I use to raise cockers. No matter how hard we tried to keep the male and female apart, that male would always do the deed with the female. It would have been too much for the female to have puppies every 6 months, so off to the vet we went the next day and he would give her a shot and no puppies would be born. Well, except one time, she had one cute little puppy. It's better than having unwanted puppies. Too many unwanted dogs in the world. Do what you need to. No one can judge you. You know your circumstances. Good Luck!

I value life... I also cannot afford to have puppies. My house is not at a capacity for being able to handle a litter. We had all good intentions for getting her fixed earlier but life throws monkey wrenches in your plans.

I am pregnant, and understand that life is a precious gift, my tiny Bella (53 pounds) is not old enough or big enough to handle a litter (in my opinion). If people think i'm so cruel to try to do right by my dog, then why is it that my other dog Max a GS is given drops in his eyes every night by me to keep him from going blind. These drops cost me $34 every 2 months (a lot down from 69 that the vet was charging me each month) and that was through tons of searching to get a best price since I will have to do this for the rest of his life.

I should not have said woohoo, sorry that was uncalled for but you must understand that my excitement was from finally making headway with the vets in my area. You can't imagine the prices and timeline I was given. I was also told that they would not do surgery during her heat cycle so I had to wait anyway.

I also do not feel terrible since the dog she tangled up with is not the nicest of dogs. He is vicious and you cannot get near him. He has even gone after my children. So his temperment is not exactly something a responsible breeder would ever use in their breeding program. This is not something I want to be responsible for down the line.

Well here's a pic of my little Bella. Pray she does ok through the surgery in a few weeks, and stays out of trouble, as in leaves my chickens alone, and leaves things with stinky and pointy butts alone.
