My 4 week old duck, Maeve, always did this weird thing where whenever you rub her chest or put you hand over her head she (idk how to explain this) she chews? It’s like when you give ducks peas in water that’s the movement she does. She’s perfectly fine normally but if you do these certain things she’ll do that movement and sometimes goes up your arm/forward. There’s not usually direction when she does it it’s just straight forward doing it along the thing fast or just straight forward which has resulted in her hitting herself into a bin but she still did it going back. I wouldn’t say it’s a major seizure or a seizure full stop as it’s very short and she has control on the rest of her body but I don’t know what it is so it’s at the top of my list. She’s still lively, eating, swimming, drinking and definitely pooping but as these are my first ducks and I would die for my babies I am having a mini first mum panic right now. I have a video of it but I don’t know How to add it onto a thread, but any help or someone who knows what it is or a clue would calm me a lot!! :f

Maybe she's just trying to show affection? Or ask for treats?
Thanks this has definitely calmed me down, it’s just weird how she’ll only do it if you do certain things and it’s kinda like and outburst or she’ll do it if you just touch her in a certain place or even if you don’t touch her in a certain place

It doesn’t look like something to be concerned about. I could totally be wrong but she doesn’t seem alarmed or distressed. Younger more friendly ducks like to cuddle as I’ve learned. I had a duckling who was only content if you let her crawl up onto your shoulder. Perhaps she wants to cuddle? Maybe try taking her out and giving her a hug or letting her cuddle up?

Thank you SOOO MUCH!
she’s not normally the cuddly type and hatesssbbeing picked up but she did have a nice nap on me so maybe she has a soft side I don’t know about, I will take your advice on Board:hugs

Could it be that your 4 week old duck is a male and that’s part of his maturing and showing you luv? A “noodling” of sorts.
Hmmm Well she quacks and I believe vent checked but I’ll watch to make sure because I have a chicken that never doodled then after a year it did which would make sense if it was a hen that changed to a rooster if there were no roosters but we have 14 boys :gig
I’ve never seen her do it with the other ducks, but if you are right that means my duck has a crush on me 😂😂
