Help older chicks

One of them is much better out foraging after a night of rain. The other one is back to being all hunched up and tail feathers down. She is eating and drinking and does come for her treat in the morning. Im at a lost i dont think i can give her any more antibiotics. She has had Clavomax,Tylan and a shot of Baytril. She still comes to me when i go out in the yard.I have both isolated from the other 7. I hate to have her put down since she still comes out of coop and is eating. Do you think i will know when the time is right?

i have read this. Her belly is soft not swollen or tight. She was good for one day after the baytril.May try having the vet give her another shot

I would try that, since Baytril is usually given as a series. Keep us posted!

I have very sad news my one chicken died shortly after having second dose of Baytril.Couldnt find anyone to do necropsy on her so buried her in her favorite spot in the garden.I am now a mom of 8.I did everything i thought was best for her.Im so sad !!

I am so sorry for your loss, but not surprised. You did everything and more that you could do. Surely you miss her, and she felt that love and care you gave her. We cannot save them when they have an incurable disease. I am sorry that I have not seen your recent posts because I have been suffering from flu that has turned worse into bronchitis. I have been too sick the last couple of days to answer many posts at all. Take care.

So well said!
I am so sorry, @mom of 9, you truly went above and beyond what many would do in trying to help your girl, I am so sorry you lost her.

thank you for your kind words. the girl that had been her tonightats has spent the evening looking for her and would not go in the coop. I got one of the other ones to go in her coop with her.I know tom she will continue looking for her. They had been buddies for the last three years. Any suggestions how i can help her. I gave her a few extra treats tonight

Eggcessive im sorry to hear you have been sick. That flu can be nasty stuff. My hen made it thur the night without her buddy have another hen in with her so i hope they will become buddies. The only reason she is not with the rest of the flock is she was on tylan powder and her eggs are no good.In a few weeks will put her back with the rest

Thank you. Today is a little better. Will be gone for the next couple of weeks on a trip. Actually your eggs are fine. There is only a 1 days egg withdrawal with oral Tylan. Just introduce her slowly in a dog crate, and watch that she isn't picked on. Take care.
