HELP! Oral antibiotic administering for a difficult duck!!!

As it turned out, I was still struggling to juggle restraining and administering at the same time, but my brother Alex saved the day! Four hands really are better than two, we got both birds dosed and under a minute each! Success! I cannot thank you all enough for your help and kind words of encouragement!!

For any first timers having trouble giving your ducks meds in the future-- heed @casportpony's advice and also: GET ANOTHER SET OF HANDS, it went so smoothly and easily!

I am so happy for you! Please keep us posted!

@casportpony I actually have a follow-up question. When I am giving them the meds, it all pools up in their throat over the glottis and I am worried they may aspirate this way. I am aiming at the side and avoiding it, but it all pools up instead of being immediately swallowed. Should I slow down? or maybe just do little amounts, let them swallow, and repeat until they have the full dose?

What size syringe are you using?

I use a tiny 1ml syringe. With this you can slip it down the throat a tiny bit to be sure you aren't squirting it into their trachea. I keep several on hand so if I need to administer more than 1ml. Of medicine I can have a second one filled and ready to go.
