HELP OUr chicken has something hanging out of her. UPDATE..more pic

We have this chicken that is a little over a year old and we went out to check on them and my son's fav hen has this hanging out of her. What is it? What should we do??

Update: I gave her a bath this morning to clean it up a bit. I felt it and it is just full of air. It will colapse when you touch it. Does this help at all??

See how its got that curl on the end of it...is that any help??

I am new, but first thing is to separate her from the other chickens. Hopefully, someone will have an answer for you

she is seperated. she is drinking alot of water.

I haven't ever dealt with it, but do a search in the blue bar above for prolapsed vent.

Good. I am wondering if this is prolapse . . . you might want to search to see if it fits the descriptions. As I said though, I am a total newbie!

I have read on here for prolapse, put her in a bathtub with warm water.

It isn't looking like the pictures i am seeing of a prolapsed vent. This looks like part of her intestes is hang out.

Chickens only have one rear opening- eggs and poo exit from the same opening, it's what into leads to the opening that varies, depending upon what the function required at the time is. Sometimes digestive organs, sometimes the oviduct. Either way, it all passes through the "vent".
