HELP! Peaowl with bad eye opens mouth shakes head.

mail

This is how his eye looked this afternoon. There really aren't any vets close by that work with peafowl. I waived my hand past his cloudy eye and he didn't move. When I waved by his clear eye he moved his head away. I think he has lost vision i that eye. I think This loss of vision happened after i left in the morning because when i came back he seemed very confused and did things in an odd manner. I am feeding him Poultry feed that comes in pellets and some small bits of chicken and eggs. His food is in a higher dish the chickens and its only for him.

The picture isn't there. If he cannot see your hand then chances are he is blind in that eye.

Your poor guy!

We have a very sweet boy here, Minny, who is blind in one eye. I'm not sure what happened - he had some kind of injury or infection when he was a yearling, as I remember, and before I could manage to catch him it passed and he ended up blind in that eye. He does really well and he's a real sweetheart (although he's a bit of a nervous guy). Don't worry, your boy will adjust to his new situation, if it turns out that he really is blind in that eye...

My peafowl is all better now thanks to everyone's help. He is blind out of one eye and is a little skinny but we are feeding him canned cat food and extra eggs until he gains the weight back. Thank you again for all the help!!!!
