It's from 2005, but there have been several others since then. This one only found a 10% increase, but I recall other studies ranging as high as 35%. The effect is greater with more extreme chilling.

Sushi is right on the cold thing...

Keep him under a heat lamp until he dries off. He should be fine. Pnenomia and respiratory viruses can present themselves and even hyperthermia.

my mom is a doctor and she said that its true. when a person gets a chill very quickly, the immune system weakens and goes to fight the temperature change. if the virus is around, its an easy chance for it to get in, but if its warm and the immune system is normal and the virus is around, it wont be as easy to get in. but yes, the virus has to be around. you cant just GET it lol

Yea, I was always told that being cold makes you more susceptible to getting the virus by weakening the immune system. That, and the fact that people tend to congregate indoors during the colder months allows the virus to spread more freely in winter.
