Help Please! Duck is bleeding while hatching

The blood is bad, if he gets a blood clot process will end, since it's been while now my guess is you broke a tiny vessel which those things are no big deal.

Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I didn't get a email telling me someone responded so I didn't think anyone did. Around noon today he finally come out all on his own! However he is breathing heavily and laying down. He tries to walk but it really tires him out :(

The temperature is 99.5 degrees and the humidity is high. I don't have a incubator that has a reader. But i have a wet paper towel in there as well as water in the bottom.

It's been 8 hours and he is still resting a lot and breathing heavily... Is this normal?

When he hatched there was not blood but a little reddish tan mucus was at the bottom of the egg

Is there anything else I can do for him? Or do I have to just let him gain his strength ?

I think he is too hot. But I am not a hatcher - I see that incubation temperature is 99.5, but I have been told that the first week, a duckling needs to be at 90F. Hmmmmmm. At what point do we lower the temperature?

edit

Looking at Storey's Guide, I see he mentions that if the incubator has adjustable air vents, they should be regulated to give hatching ducklings additional air, but not opened so wide that too much warm air escapes and humidity drops.

Storey's Guide also says they need 4 to 12 hours to rest and dry off.

Also, says after most of the ducklings are hatched, the relative humidity can be lowered to 50% (82 to 84 degrees F on the wet-bulb thermometer) so they will fluff out properly.

This seemed helpful - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/incubating-and-hatching-muscovy-eggs

for Muscovy she does lower the temperature a little bit.

"
HATCHING
for temps.. 99.5 ºF (101.5 for still air bators) until the first internal pip ("lockdown" as some call it.. I prefer the term HATCH).. then I drop the temp down to 98 to 98.5 ºF (dropping temp to 100.5 for the still air bators) and increase humidity to 60% or better*** (see note below).. also after the eggs are internally pipped if they are not already laying on their sides.. they should be.. if you have a separate hatcher without a fan then that's even better. If you decide to turn the fan off for your incubator (for those who have that option) keep a very close eye on the temps since the incubator may begin to get too hot and need a temperature adjustment.."

Is he in with other eggs? If so, you shouldn't drop the temp below Amiga's recommendation of. 98-98.5, and the humidity shouldn't be lowered either. Do you have a brooder set up?

Going to tag @Lacrystol and @casportpony and @Marty1876 as well as @subhanalah on this - you say the duckling has started to shiver? Have you lowered the temperature? What is the current temperature and humidity?

Edit - oh, did not see you there, Kathy! Thank you thank you!

Ok thanks for all the info :) I will turn his temp down a little. And make sure the humidity is around 50%. Hopefully by the morning he isn't breathing so heavily and is dryer. I'll keep you guys updated! Thank you so much for your help!
