Help please, Eggbound, tried lots of things, WARNING GRAPHIC PICTURE

I used a razor hobby knife that had never been used before. Brand new sharp... sterilized it and squirt warmed saline on the slit immediately. Room temp saline would have been way too cold I think. After that, there wasn't any more blood.. not even pressure was needed and shortly after that her butt sucked everything back inside that needed to be in there without having to "spoink" her back in.
I saw that word in somebody's blog for a prolapse being pushed back in.. thought it was great.
So far, chicken insides are staying inside the chicken.
yeah!
She's a big girl.. can't imagine why her vent wasn't big enough for the egg.

I'm glad to hear that the stuck egg saga is now at an end! Great job doctor!

I'm sure that your chicken is VERY grateful for what you did for her also.

One of my Polish once was taking a long time to lay, and I watched her walk and sit and strain for a while, and the roo was cheering her on, and sitting in the nest with her, and finally she laid it, and it was the mother of all eggs! That was the only time it happened. So with yours, it may not be a problem, just a one time thing.

this morning she's up and walking around a little more but her tail is still flying at half mast. I think later I'm going to give her another warm bath - I know after an episomotmy I would want one. I think she misses having a perch.
We found out she likes grits

This hen is going to become your favorite, if she isn't already! She's going to follow you around like a little shadow once you put her back in the other pen.

Glad to hear she's doing better. Congrats on making a good choice about a mini-surgery to help her get that egg out.

You are absolutely right. We use that dilution on preemies that get a booboo. We rinse with the diluted peroxide, pat dry, and put antibiotic ointment on it, every 8 hours.

well, one warm bath later.. coupla days rest and enough time to use that oil gland to coif her feathers and she's back out with the flock.. and quite happy to be there. I watched her for a long time to make sure I didn't have to go get her back in from fatigue but she's good to go.
yeah!
