Help Please First Time Hatching Egss!

Too bad your parents couldn't be involved. I'm an old retired lady and I love my chickens. Some people, maybe your parents, think that chickens are dirty and nasty, but we know that's not true. I can think of many many worse things you could do. Raising chickens is fun.

Good luck!!!

Have you ever thought of raising some birds to show? I know a lot of kids in my area that show birds. It's very educational and fun and the eggs from the girls a bonus.

it's not a duplicate thread. The other thread was about what to do with chicks. This one is about how to hatch chicks!

My parents think they are foul(pun not intended) nasty creatures and yes when theres like 20 or 30 they can get gross but one or two thats nothing its sad but if they do hatch im giving it to my neighbor she loves me so it should be ok and her chicken(elizebeth) is lonley. My neighbor had seven chicks and she lost all 6 to natural cuase so i can at least give elizebeth a buddy. I have anther question, if my eggs hatch and i give it to elizibeth what would happen would elizebeth be friend it or kill it or treat it like a child elizibeth is only 2 months

They will have to be kept separated for awhile. The older bird may or may not try to hurt the chick but likely there will be pecking. It's really best to put them together when they are close to the same size. I have kept my younger birds next to the older ones so they can get used to each other but when I go put the younger ones in I try to make a safe place for the younger birds to go to get away from the older birds if the older birds start picking on them.

I have well over 100 birds. People like to come over and see my birds and often tell me that they are surprised they are not stinky and nasty, but I take good care of them.

I hope elizibeth is a small chicken like the size of two chicks stacked on each other she had a rooster friend that was the size of a chick like that was the perk of his breed being a small chick also do you think i should take it to school if it hatches if so how do i keep it warm

A heating pad might work. I don't know if it would be warm enough. Maybe your neighbor has something you can use for heat also some chick feed and water when it hatches. Some schools do have programs with hatching chicks. Maybe your school has some kind of program like that. I have put the chick in a wire cage with a heat lamp on top to keep the chicks warm.

Here are some suggestions. Feeders, waterers, and a light for heat.
