I have a year old kahki campbell duck...when i went out to the barn this morning i found her lying on her back not able to get up. She seems alert an ok but she can not stand or hold herself upright very well...I took her away from the other ducks and put her in her own pen up by the house with food and water. She seemed fine as long as i was holding her but when i went to set her down she just kind of fell over and was struggling to sit upright. when I got her settled and comfortable she was eating and drinking the food and water that i sat close to her so she didnt have to move to get to it. Im not sure what to do it appears to be her one leg that is bothering her but im not sure how she could have injured it. If someone could please help or give me some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Hello, sorry you are having this issue. Could a predator have gotten to her? Anyway, will she let you feel her entire leg? You need to feel up and down her leg. Are her leg joints swollen? Can you manipulate (very gently) her hip joint? Take her leg and gently move it back and forth (normal walking motion) do you feel any grinding, clicking, or is it a smooth feeling motion? If you manipulate her leg, does she appear to cause her pain? Check the bottoms of her feet...normal looking? These are some things to check or look for. Keep her up and confined for right now. Get back to us after you have palpated her legs to see if anything is abnormal.

her leg can move but its turning white like there is no circulation... i think there is something wrong with her wing too...im thinking the wing injury is from the other ducks maybe stepping on her in the night. i dont think its looking too good and i dont know what else to do for her.
