HELP please! My buff orpington is sick AGAIN

Have you also treated the coop?

-Kathy
Yes, I did yesterday. Removed ALL bedding, cleaned all roosts with hot water and disinfectant, sprayed with sevin-5.

I just took her outside and she walked around in the sun a little. I let her get on my raised beds, she ate a ton of my cabbage. I dusted her again. She ate some wet crumbles and drank some water with nutri drench.

The photo you provided in post #30 of the worm; did you notice if it was flat and had segments? If so, it's tapeworms you're dealing with and that's why nothing is working for your bird. I tried looking at the photo with a magnifying glass and couldnt tell if it had segments or not.

It did not... It was a threadworm (used SafeGuard). That was the only time I spotted them.

That was NOT a threadworm (capillary worm.) Capillary worms aka threadworms are barely visible to the human eye.

Was it a roundworm? Just curious...

I haven't seen any more worms in her stool. It's different than other times.. Now it looks green, and the texture is very thick like mucus (kinda like egg white, made me think maybe an egg broke inside her?!). The smell is pretty bad too.

Well... Latest on my sweet Beverly: She is completely fine!!

Woke up this morning and discovered she had flown out of her "sick pen" (made with a laundry basket) and was playing around in my basement (and pooping.. agggh).

Took her outside with the other chooks, and she ate a ton... Had treats, looked happy, and was out there scratching around all day. It's 7PM and she's still outside. I went to the coop to give them some flax seeds and she flew to my shoulder! I'm only 5'1", but still!

So I'm not sure *** is going on with her.... One day she looks weak and on the verge of death, less than 48 hours later (with no more treatment that dusting) she is back to 100%

Now I don't know if all the other treatments worked, or if she just healed always on her own, or if she caught every disease on the chicken book.

One thing I'm considering is that she might become depressed because of bullying. I used to have a RIR who was incredibly MEAN to her. I got rid of her (gave it to a friend) for that reason, and all was good... At least for a while.

This morning, one of my easter eggers was vicious! She jumped on my orpington's back and pulled feathers, started to chase her, and attacked again. I caught the offender and put her on "detention pen" during the afternoon, and released her when I came back from work. She had calmed down.

Anyway, maybe I'll never know!!!!!

I'm just happy she is OK again... For now at least!!
