They do look good! Do report back on how they turn out. When you dressed them, do you recall if you saw any reporductive organs and their size? If they were small or in hens, not even formed well, likly they are still young and juicy enough to do the deep fry.
Silkie, some of them had two yellow hard sacs that I don't remember seeing on the meat birds I raised. Don't know much about a chickens reproductive system.
Just did 3 more and think I found testes and an egg sac. They were also full of long hairs on the skin. I decided to let two hens live to see how big they get. I would have kept a roo but decided too late. Anyway they were crowing!!! Will have to isolate them for a month but will be interested in the seeing how it goes.
I took pics of some unusual body parts for meaties and will upload later.
They had tons of fat on them. Wonder if they were resuce birds.
I labeled the second pic with what I think the items are.
Judging by the size of the ova in the ovaries, I'm going to take a stab in the dark to say the girls should lay within two months, if not sooner if light is given to stimulate them. I wouldn't be surprised if they lay in a month, since it looks like some of those ova are turning orange.
They are fatty birds, but the livers look healthy so should be good eating. Spur there is growing pretty well, so if perhaps they are early maturing, I want to say they are at least 5 months old.
If you take those feet, de sock them, and save the gizzard, liver, and heart, you can make a mean soup!
I'd give the bodies an extra few days to relax in the fridge. Buttermilk soak I hear helps tenderize too if you find the fried one too tough!
At 11 lbs dressed... yeah, they've got to be meat birds.
