HELP PLS! URGENT... Fav. aracauna girl bleeding from anus/vent area......DESPERATE

Please help. My 8 month old aracauna is bleeding from what looks like her vent/anal area. She seems to still be interested in food, and water.. She's out and about pecking and scratching with all of the other ladies. It's quite bad. I just noticed it today, she is a wonderful layer, producing 1-2 a day, and very broody. It doesn't seem like the others are picking on her. It's quite stinky, and looks like some poop is stuck there as well. What should I do? I am so worried.. Just this year we have lost 6 chickens to the stupid neighbor dog. We are now down to 7 ladies. 2 aracaunas, a new Hampshire red, and four barred rocks.. Our aracaunas and red are our original survivors of the first attack so they're our pets, more than the others... we aren't ready to lose another... WHAT can I do for her.. Get her and get her butt cleaned by soaking and gently cleaning the vent. If she is smelly it sounds like vent gleet. Can make sores redness around vent opening and inside from irritation caused by the yeast infection. There may be a whitish discharge that looks like urea or solid clumps of it stuck to vent.

I have used miconazole (vaginal yeast infection cream) on the outside of vent to cover irritated tissue and some inserted into vent. Give yogurt that helps too.

I would also post a pic of her hinney as you are cleaning her or after so feathers are out of way so can better see the area.

I wonder if it is chicken cannibalism! Sometimes other chickens will peck other chicken's vents because the like the protein in the chicken blood.
I hope you can figure this out!

Thank you very much. Do I just soak her in the bath with warm water? I had been reading about prolapsed vents? It kind of looks like its sticking out too.. She's still in good spirits though, a little trooper. Something about soaking them in the tub, cleaning it off, and then rubbing granulated sugar on the area, and then sticking her in a dark area for twenty four hours to inhibit laying? I'm not sure. Just scared of losing another lady.

It could be cannibalism I suppose? But they free range, get lots of light, and lots of scrap food.. but I'm careful to not feed them potatoes, peanuts, acidic treats, and avacados or anything else toxic to them. They have tons of room in the coop which is an old pump house, and we've never showed any signs of cannibalism or pecking at each other... I just don't get it

Yes in a warm bath, once area cleaned up and feathers are wet can better see the area. If she is prolapsed needs to have it gently pushed back in. Can have vent gleet and prolapse at same time. Take a pic of hinney so can see.

Preparation H, honey, sugar can be put on a prolapse to shrink tissues so more likely to stay inside. Also seperate and place in dark quiet place, to prevent laying an egg and popping it back out or making it worse. May take a day or three. Seperation keeps others from pecking and damaging it more.

I had a girl that had gleet that bled like yours appears to be doing. She recovered and is fine now.

I can't see the vent in your pictures, but look at this link to make sure it is not a prolapsed vent. That is an emergency that you need to push back in. Vent picking is quite common, and watching the behavior may help you to see it. Make sure they are getting at least 16% protein in their layer feed, and 20% flock raiser is good with some calcium on the side.

Here are the best pictures I could get. I soaked her in warm water and cleaned the vent area, blood clot looking particles came off, and it seemed to have felt good for her, as she didn't move a bit and just sat there, poor sweetheart. Following the bath, I made the honey and sugar mixture.. I don't have any prep H, and tried to push the vent back in.. it's out a little bit, but everytime I push it, it comes back out. I have her in a dog kennel with blankets for bedding and water with food and a roosting bar, I covered it with blankets... anything else I need to do???

oh and look at that egg up top, it was super bloody.. could that have been the cause? it was a pretty large egg
