Ten Chicks, thank you so much for replying. I am pretty sure that it is a prolapse, it is sticking out quite a bit. I gave her a lukewarm bath and cleaned the area diligently, then I took the honey sugar baste and covered the surrounding area of the vent and put a tad inside the vent as well, I tried putting the vent back in, and it wont stay. Everytime I try to push it in she strains and pops it back out. She is inside in a dog kennel in the house where it is warm with blankets covering the cage. I also tried using Vaseline on my finger to stick up her vent to try to push the prolapse back in. She's currently in the cage with a mixture of scrambeled eggs with egg shell, some oats, and yogurt mix. She ate a couple bites of it, but that is all. She hasn't drank any water, She's very quiet and uninterested in her food. When I tried to push the vent back in she was really distressed, and I know it hurt. but it's still sticking out. Can I make the bandage out of seran wrap? Thanks again

I'm so sorry that I forgot to post the link about treating a prolapse--so glad that TenChicks posted it and helped you. My chickens don't like yogurt that well, and they won't eat the scrambled eggs if yogurt is on them. Good luck with your hen.

ok will do we live out in country far from town so I don't have access to the correct bandaging so I used seran wrap and tp with Neosporin, shes very very sore, sry for typos I have my baby in my arms lol. I cant get the vent to stay in.
