You have all been so wonderful. Thank you so much. This morning when I checked on her, the saran wrap had fallen off, so obviously that didn't do anything lol. Her vent is still out, and it is kinda messy again, bloody mucous looking stuff... and poop. That is the good thing though, little missy has been a poopin' machine. Should I give her another bath, and begin the whole process again? I want her well.. and love her, but ooooo boy it's hard to smell and see this stuff lol. So I was thinkin' give her another bath to get the crap off, then trim away some of the feathers that are in the way. Use the honey and sugar, and try to push the vent back in. Any other ideas? I don't understand why it's all bloody and mucousy again, is that normal? Should I sit there with my finger up her vent for a couple of minutes? Thanks again!!!

It's bleeding just from her pooping and straining. Yes, another bath sounds great--you can just soak her bum. I would push the vent in, then take your saran wrap and hold it in for a bit. Tonight try the old sock tied into a knot and placed over the vent. The panty hose would be used just like vet wrap as in this picture from the link by TenChicks here: http://www.littlehenrescue.co.uk/Pages/Medicaladvice.aspx

I cannot get the vent to go back in. If its not back in by Monday should I call the vet? It seems crazy to call the vet over a chicken.. but I'm so tired of all the trauma and can't stand to lose another chicken, but I don't want to pay too much for a Dr.'s visit for a chicken. Whatya all think? It's not sticking out like crazy ... but definitely out, with all of the mucous and everything is that typical with a prolapsed vent? And it's bleeding too... Just let me know :)

So I had previously posted as to how I thought my hen only had a prolapsed vent. But now when I was trying to stick her vent back in I felt an egg... what the heck do I do now??? Sorry new to this.. I've bathed her, and gotten rid of all of the mucous and poop with blood... but she's still bleeding some. The vent is definitely sticking out... and I gave her two baths now, with Epsom salts and a little soap, tried the honey and sugar trick, gave her aspirin, yogurt egg shells and scrambeled eggs... She's not super interested in eating but is eating... but I cannot get her to drink water.. She's only 8 months old, and we've been going through losses of chickens due to the **** neighbor dog... I injected olive oil into her vent to help her pass the egg... what else can I do, and once the egg has passed... how long do I give it to try and help the prolapse back in? .... Poor girl isn't feeling super hot... She's our prized hen so PLEASE PLEASE help...She's a blonde aracauna... Help me to help my baby girl

Give her a human calcium to see if that helps to pass the egg. Keep her in a dark area to try to slow her down from laying eggs. When she passes the egg, keep pushing her prolapse in.

Its possible the bleeding could be from the other birds pecking her prolapse. I know this is scary, it take time for this to come together. Try to relax and breath. :hugs

Like the other post..I crumbled some Tums into her water and food, but she has no interest in them.. she's not drinking at all, she's completely un interested... what should I do??

Try another warm bath. Can you try to remove the egg by lubing your finger and trying to gently move it out? Veterinarians can collapse the egg with a needle and syringe, but not possible at home, plus dangerous for inexperienced people. Castportpony might know more--I don't know if you should try to crush the egg because it can set her up for more problems.
