HELP! problem with neighbor

I got that but think its pretty twisted to consider killing the chickens.
Killing the chickens that you don't really have any issue with because you don't like him killing wildlife sounds worse then what he's doing.
Your question should of been....
Hey my neighbor has chickens that he believes in totally free ranging and for predator protection he is trapping and killing all that come onto his property.
We have offered him fencing to build a run but he doesn't want. His trapping and killing is thinning out the wildlife in the area which I enjoy.
Is there anything I can do or suggest that may keep his chickens safer so he doesn't have to kill so much and we can still enjoy the local wildlife?
It really sounds like there's a lot more then just looking for a solution going on for you now.

I know your upset he is trapping wild creatures are killing them but no need to get upset about the chickens if you don’t mind them in your yard

If he traps to keep his free roaming chickens safe then try explaining to him that if he wants his chickens going where they please then their will be predators getting his birds
And if he traps and all it still won’t make a very big difference
So if he wants safe chickens who have lots of space he can make a huge fenced in area with aviary netting over the top
And then when he’s home he can let them out

What are the laws for chickens and wildlife trapping and killing in your area?

If he traps and kills enough it will.
OP is making it out that all the wildlife in the area is disappearing. Sounds like he's making quite a dent and with more time and killing his chickens will be a lot safer then in the past.

Trapping the local predators absolutely works when free ranging chickens. I do it all the time. Chickens are happier running free instead of giving me that sad look staring through the cage wire looking out at the world they can’t enjoy like a HSUS commercial.

we don’t trap predators because we don’t really have many so I though it might not make a difference so thank you for correcting me roosterhavoc

We let ours go wherever they want im not saying he should cage his birds but maybe make a system so they don’t go in her yard

How big are your properties? How close are your houses? How many chickens? Hundreds? A dozen? Three?
Honestly, if my neighbor had any animal that I didn't enjoy seeing in my yard I would throw up a fence. You're not going to change his mind about the way he lives and escalating things by killing his chickens makes no sense when your very beef is with the lives he is taking.

6ft x 8ft privacy fence panels are like $45 a piece. Thats what i would do. And thats what I did as a respondible chicken owner . my neigbors should not have to have animals on their property that they didnt sign up for. Just because i prefer to free range.

Speaking of the HSUS. What do you think is going to happen to poultry keeping when they and other animal activist groups get involved?
I've been watching the backyard chicken movement grow over the years and one thing I've noticed is the big push to change chickens from livestock status to pet status.
If that ever happens I believe the very people pushing for it will end up cutting their throats.
You know there will be a flood of restrictions and regulations to follow and I think one of the biggest will be space requirements. Also followed by at least limited time with their feet on grass.
All the little suburbia coops won't make the cut and having them penned 24/7 on dirt or deep compost probably won't either.
IDK. Free range may be banned also because of safety from predator issues.
Who knows just something I've thought about with how the chicken movement has been going.
It'll probably be one of those careful what you wish for things.

I agree but most people need a pet to need them. They do more harm them good in the long run by turning livestock into hamsters. It’s trendy so it’ll be a wait and see kinda thing.
