HELP! prolapse with egg inside? (pictures)

Hi! We have a beautiful young cochin who layed her first egg, although it come out of her. We were thinking it's a prolapse, but we can<t get the egg out. Here are some pictures, we don't have access to a vet so if anyone can help tell us what it is and what to do it would be greatly appreciated. We can't see any opening where we can push the egg out. I've also read about a hernia, is that possible in this case? She is also contracting. When I press there is a little bit of resistance- it’s not overly squishy or soft. Kind of a medium firmness, and I don’t think it feels like fluid. Thank you!!!

It looks like it has got caught in a fold of internal tissue in the cloaca. Put her in a warm bath with Epsom salts if you can, and soak her for 20 mins. Then see if you can push it gently back in. It may find it's way to the right path out, or you may need to lubricate it with vaseline but be super careful not to break it.

Thank you! We've tried pushing it back in, but it comes right back out. Is Epsom salts the same thing as bath salts?

The only alternative I can think of, besides a vet, would be to cut the thin skin membrane and ease the egg out then superglue the cut, put haemorrhoid cream on it and push it back in, as it is a prolapse. But you might not want to do your own surgery.

This hen may have the same problem with the next egg.

You can get Epsom salts for the bath, but "bath salts" are perfumed so don't use them.

This is very useful, thank you. We will try the bath, and as a last resort we might try surgery, but we're reluctant about this surgery!

if the egg goes back in that's good. it needs to turn round a corner to come out the right way. Can you hold it in her for a time? Just prevent it being pushed out through the same channel taking the membrane with it?

I'm worried the mucous membrane has got twisted with it being pushed in and out again and you might have to put her down
