What is wrong with Raggedy Ann's waddles? 1 year 7 month old Buff Orpington hen. Just popped up today and she was immediately isolated. She has been eating and drinking. I put probiotics, acidifiers, and electrolytes in her water. I havent seen her poop yet. Her crop is kinda squishy and large. It seems like a bite though. Her right waddle is swollen tremendously and has sort of a black purple spot on it. The swelling goes between her waddles under her beak and into her left waddle, which isnt no where near as bad as the right. Any ideas on treatment?

Where is she normally kept?

The injury pattern is interesting. Looks like bruising around the eye and under her beak too.
Is she able to eat/drink o.k.?

The tissue looks to possibly been pinched, but the wattle tissue is dying, it looks like to me.
It may be full of blood, hard to know if it needs to be lanced open or if it will just open on it's own.
Let's see what @Eggcessive and @coach723 might have to suggest.

If she is eating and drinking, acting normal, droppings are normal, I would keep a close eye on it, see if it seems to get worse/larger, or starts to go down, scab/dry up. It's hard to say if it's full of blood or possibly pus. If it seems to get worse, or she acts sick, then I would consider lancing it, to make sure it's not infection. But I would be prepared for a lot of bleeding if you do that, have blood stop powder and clean rags to put pressure on it, wattles can bleed a lot. I have seen hematoma's on wattles, from injury, they eventually go away on their own. But they haven't turned color like that. It does look like the tissue is dying, I agree. I have drained hematoma's with a needle and syringe, so there is only a small stick to stop the bleeding from, that would be what I would try first if necessary, to see what it's full of. But many hematoma's will just refill again. It also could be some kind of bite, spider, etc.

It looks like some of the pictures are reversed. It is just the right wattle that is injured, correct? Did you photograph a couple in the mirror? Is she drinking or eating at all? Is her beak injured, and is her tongue okay inside her beak? Wattle injuries are very painful, as when they are frostbitten or stung by something. I would spray some Vetericyn or other wound spray on the wattles twice a day. Clean her wet feathers if she is drooling. Do your chickens free range in the yard? If you have a game camera, I would set it up so that you can see if something is lurking around that may have injured her.

I had to use the front facing camera to get a better picture so yeah i think some are switched around but it is only the right waddle that looks like this. She is drinking and eating. Beak is not injured and tongue looks ok. They do free range in the back yard that is fenced in and we do have cameras. Havent seen anything at all on the cameras though. The swelling has gone down just slightly but really no changes in today.

@NeedToKnowItAll how is she doing? How is she eating? Is the swelling down at all or leaking? Any new pictures?

She is eating and drinking. Swelling has gone down slightly but not much at all. The grey color on thr bottom of the waddle is almost gone. She is acting like she is sick. Its not leaking any that I can tell. I dont think she is drooling either. When she drinks water it looks like she is drooling though.
