HELP! RAT BIT MY 2 DAY OLD CHICK!

The rotten pumpkin odor is concerning. Are you familiar with what that smell is?

Yes, odors can be concerning, and I'm not sure what it might be. Could have gotten a wiff of poo from the cage? Hard to say. But i think the chick will show fairly quickly if it needs to be put down. I wouldn't do it yet.

Are you? Is that a “known” odor? If so, please do share with the group. Thanks.

I've smelled rotten pumpkin before & it ain't good! I've never experienced that smell with chickens. I wondered if @WVduckchick had. I know she has a lot more experience with littles than I do.

My best guess is an eye infection, We now have a vet appointment, thanks for all the amazing support!

Glad you are getting to see a vet. Lucky chick. Let us know how it goes please.

Sorry, not that i remember. Guess I've been lucky or inattentive? :D
What was your outcome?
