Help sick chicken

I have never treated botulism, but it is not botulism if the chicken can stand up and use it's legs or wings. Botulism causes paralysis up the spinal nerves from feet to neck, eyelids and the breathing center in the brain. I don't know what would be the problem. Maybe dehydration or weakness from an illness, such as coccidiosis or it could be a form of wry neck.

I would give fluids orally, very carefully to prevent choking, and add vitamins and electrolytes to them. Tube or crop feeeding may be necessary if her neck is paralyzed. Important vitamins would be thiamine (B1,) vitamin E, and the mineral selenium, easily found in egg, tuna, and seeds. Feel the chicken's crop to see if it is empty, puffy, full, hard, or soft. Sometimes crop problems may prevent them from eating. Look at her droppings for diarrhea.
