help! sick peacock

I do know the cecal worm is a carrier of the protozoa, but didn't think the Metronidazole killed it. I could be wrong there and that would be great! I didn't know that it kills giardia... I figured it would kill the secondary bacteria and allow the immune system to control the rest (like when using Tylan for sinus problems). How long ago did you have to deal with blackhead (before it started showing up again)?
I've lost track of the days and number of times that I've had to deal with it this year. My troubles began in the summer last year and since then, I've been through almost two bottles of fish zole and about 250cc's of compounded metronidazole (50mg/ml). Seems like I spend my days following peas around, looking for symptoms and inspecting their poop, lol.

Did we ever do a list for meds that peas need? I can't remember if it was peas or turkeys or something else that you and I were on a thread talking about. Do you remember? Perhaps we should get another MED/First Aid kit/list so everyone will have it.

What was the name of that thread that had the debate about FDA banned drugs, NPIP, etc? I think there was a list in there.

Not sure. I will look for it.

And that's the only way to stay on top of it. Good job! ;)

Ok, here is the link where we had the discussion. I would strongly suggest that everyone who has peas make sure you have have all the necessary meds/first aid kits on hand in the event you need it for a sick or injured pea. Perhaps we can have a discussion on this thread where we can list everything that may be needed for a medical emergency with a pea and/or just routine maintenance/care. I am creating excel spreadsheets that are specific for every type animal that I have (peas, chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, guineas, rabbits, sheep and goats). I will have this in a 3 ring binder at home for when I need it.

I'm so happy for you!

Casportpony, can you re-cap in 1 post what the plan of action is for possible Blackhead in peas, to include mg of meds, how many times per day to give and how many days, possible OTC liquids and other food to feed during this time? I know things were discussed in several posts but can you sum it up in 1 post so everyone can bookmark? Thank you. Include the de-worming in detail. I hope this is not asking a lot but I think if this was in 1 post, it would make it easier. Thanks!

My goal is for EVERYONE to get this information and print out and keep and have it readily available when they need it. Maybe we can save more pea's lives by arming ourselves with knowledge and information.
