HELP!!! TURKEY HEN PROLAPSED??

Pics
We are trying to get her there my heart aches we are all crying so bad
Is she sitting on your lap with mom driving? I'd just try to keep her relatively stable (not jostle around too much in the car). That's pretty much all I can think of to make her comfortable. Is it warm in the car? Maybe some air from the heater would be nice. Idk, I've never tried to brainstorm end of life comforts for a turkey. I'm seriously upset for you. I cried when I saw the insides all out.

I hope this doesn't come off as weird, but that really was an excellent photo you took. I was googling tying to see if there was anything to do for a prolapse that bad and none of the pictures were even close to being as good as yours.

She’s beside me in the back seat of the car wrapped in a blanket while I’m petting her. Always reminding her I love her and I’m so sorry and I tried so hard. My heart truly aches. I hate this. I have MANY birds but she and her mate who passed were so dear to me. I wanted to save her, bad.
I’m still crying and will for a while as are my mom and siblings..
and that’s not weird at all. I’m glad I got a good image. I’m wondering what all it is that came out.. appears like intestine..?
:hit:hit

What is that?

Well, it's basically when the cloaca becomes inflamed (cloacitis), and puts out a white (and usually eventually yellow) discharge. The butt feathers get all gummed up like your turkey's did.

This article is pretty good, but I'll just paste the highlights so you don't have to read the whole thing right now. https://thefrugalchicken.com/vent-gleet-identifying-treating/

Vent gleet is usually a bacterial or fungal infection that causes irritation to the vent, and usually is accompanied by white/yellowish discharge. Not treated, it can make egg laying and eventually eliminating waste very uncomfortable for your hens (or leave you with bad eggs), and eventually they might just stop laying altogether.

I know you said she hadn't laid an egg since July (though you did find those weird soft shelled ones). If the inflammation was making it hard for her to lay eggs and poop I wonder if all the straining is what caused the prolapse to happen.

Do you remember if she was straining prior to the white goopy stuff coming out, or did you kind of notice them all at the same time?

I honestly don’t recall.. from what I know it was at the same time. She never was obviously straining before, but she could of been.. :( I just can’t allow my pet to suffer anymore. I want her humanely put out and for her to know I loved her and wanted her to be okay

I've been there too. I had to take my little baby hamster to the vet around Thanksgiving time. She was dying, and I knew it, but I had to try. Did everything for her that they could but she died anyway. I had no idea she was sick. Rodents are really good at hiding it until it's too late. I kept telling her I was sorry and that I'd have taken her to the doctor sooner if I had known she was sick. Told her over and over I loved her and I was sorry. I didn't know.

Based on how swirly it is I'm feeling like it's her reproductive system, but I could be totally wrong. The vet can probably tell you. I think the intestines would be skinnier and there would be more of them.

I’m so sorry :( we all love our pets so much and give the absolute world for them.. when we cannot save them it’s absolutely heartbreaking. Do you think it was from eggs..? :( we are almost there.. it’s hard to say goodbye we drove an hour from home at 2am just for her

I think she knows. You've been paying a lot of extra attention to her and keeping her prolapse lubricated. It's uncomfortable when it gets dry, so keeping it moist helped it feel better for her. You cleaned up her feathers and gave her the nice soak. She knows.
