HELP!!! TURKEY HEN PROLAPSED??

And people who may know.. who knows.
@casportpony what do you think based on that pic had all come out of her..? It was so hard to tell but really looked like intestine.. and I’m
not sure what all else.. when I first went out it almost looked like a sack of something.. and was only half bad and then she kept straining and all the rest came out and she still kept trying

Can they still eat the lettuce I offer? And my Ebony (the last turkey alive) loves her grapes. I give a couple a day or every couple days. It’s her favorite. And can someone recommend good stable laying/ crumble feeds that would be good for her to remain on..? My ducks and geese eat all the crumbled turkey starter at all times and have been fine. We don’t have waterfowl feed here so that’s what they eat. And my bantams little chickens have been on straight TMC.

And yes that’s what terrified me.. was what If I’m doing this and I could of saved her.. it’s still in the back of my mind taunting me and eating away at me.. I just want her here

I didn't read through all the pages, but I did want to share that I personally had one turkey hen prolapse and we couldn't save her either.

It was probably because I fed too many treats like corn and boss because turkeys love these things, but they will make them internally fat which can lead to a prolapse when they start to lay for the season.

I personally feed my turkeys a pelleted All Flock ration that has 18% protein and they get a separate bowl of oyster shells for the calcium needs. I haven't had another prolapse since I severely cut down on the fatty treats.

Sorry you lost yours. Turkeys are goofy birds, and easy to get attached to.

They are very much so.. truly amazing creatures. I’ll never understand how they can be so strong and so amazing. By far my favorite animal and bird species.. and I adore all so that says a lot. My turkeys have always had my heart. Did yours prolapse that severely..?

Lettuce definitely not fatty. Grapes not fatty. Like all fruit they have sugar, but I don’t think grapes are going to hurt Ebony as long as they’re a small part of her diet.

When we found mine there was intestines pulled out as well. Either by her or another bird. She was my favorite bourbon red hen. It's always the favorite it seems.

They are fine. Mine also like tomatoes, cucumber slices, watermelon, and raspberry to name a few items.

I’ll have one try some of those.. I know they love watermelon as well, grapes seem to be the favorite for all of the birds. Peeps favorite was lettuce..

Yes it does sadly it’s awful to see them that way... really stays with you

They do each seem to have a favorite treat. Nothing like a big old turkey running to you for goodies.
