Help: under the weather chicken, possible crop issue?

Did you feel her crop ? Was it hard or squishy ?

Yes, I’m massaging it ever few hours. But there is nothing to feel, it’s empty - no hardness or doughy ball to feel. It just feels totally empty.

She has been inside now for two hours and there is one poo, it looks normal, not runny...

There isn’t a lot to report on her symptoms other than her complete lacklustre status and her seeming sleeping in her nest box...

Update on Speedy:

I put her in the coop last night and let her out this morning. Initially she seemed a little brighter but after 20mins of lacklustre-following-her-mates-about she was back to falling asleep on her feet and not wanting to eat.

I decided to pop her in the car and take her to the vets as I think it might be something more sinister than a crop problem.

He confirmed that it’s not a crop blockage or infection, she isn’t egg bound and is showing no signs of much else. So it must be a virus which the list is quite long of possibilities.

He gave me some antibiotics, she is to be separated full time from the other girls and encouraged to eat and drink regularly. He thinks she will pick up after a few days of TLC and some antibiotics. Let’s hope so!!!
