I was given these 4 ducks. I talked my man out of slaughtering them right away and instead keeping them in the run we made for the chicks we expect soon.
I've never had ducks before...they will be with us at least 6 weeks or longer if Mr. man gets attached. What do i need to know about ducks!
What breed are these. I believe they are all female. They were kept with a male and a broody mama. Would any eggs from them be fertilized?

They are Pekins! From the two bootys I can see they are females (If any have a single curled tail feather they’re male). I have 5 ducks and I can tell you they adore water, make sure you have a kitty pool or at least something deep enough for them to dip their bills into. Hope this helps and good luck!

You have gotten yourself into a lot of fun! Check for the bullseye to see if the eggs are fertilized. Make sure they have enough to at least dunk their whole head into; I use 2 gallon buckets. A kiddie pool would be great :D They make a mess, but they're the cutest, waddling, quacking poopers you'll ever meet.

Thank you, everyone!
Mr. Man is already talking about how to make a pond for them. Which is code for "we're keeping them." Haha!
I'm not too worried about a muddy mess, I live in Arizona and mosture does not stick around for long. I've already learned that they can eat the same thing as Chickens, which is convenient. I heard that adding brewers yeast will help.

Definitely add brewers yeast or nutritional yeast because the chicken food doesn’t have enough niacin for them. I also add Braggs ACV to their water every other day which keeps them healthy (until they eat something they shouldn’t like one of mine did this week lol). They also love peas, corn, kale, meal worms as treats. You’ll want to check out the ultimate list of treats sticky thread. Lots of good stuff on the sticky thread. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/ducks-sticky-topics-index.256233/
