Help! What's this in my Orpington's eye?

I am interested to know how she is going also?

It looks similar to 'cherry eye' which my dog had once.

Cherry eye is a disorder of the nictitating membrane or third eyelid. Cherry eye results from a defect in the retinaculum with is responsible for anchoring the gland to the periorbita and the defect causes the gland to prolapse and protrude from the eye as a red fleshy mass.

However, I have no idea if this happens in chickens also

Nugget and her mystery eye ailment are exactly the same today. She still seems to feel fine, although she seems to have lost a bit of weight. I'll try to get a new picture of her eye tomorrow. It's amazing to me that NOBODY knows what this thing is, including all of the chicken-keeping oldtimers I know!

I've also been monitoring our other chickens in case the mystery ailment is contagious.
Everyone else appears fine.
