Help ! Winter is coming

Vetafarm Avian Insect Liquidator. It's fantastic stuff and gives up to 6 weeks protection from external parasites. It's safe even on delicate finch eggs and chicks.
I was interested in the is stuff until I read the info on this post: https://allbirdproducts.com/products/avian-insect-liquidator-ready-to-use
where it says that it is NOT for use where the bird or eggs are to be used for consumption!
I admit I did not look any further into this product after reading this so I am interested in knowing if this information is wrong.

This vet has no issues with using it regularly on their chickens but I only use it if I know there are mites about (thanks to the local rats whose population explodes over summer) and I spray it on their legs only seeing as that is how the mites access the chickens when they come out at night. None of the active ingredients are of risk to us and we are exposed to them in many other ways.

It has 3 active constituents:
Piperonyl butoxide is used to treat some food crops and is also in head lice treatments so we are exposed to it in other areas of our lives.

Methoprene
"It is an amber-colored liquid with a faint fruity odor which is essentially nontoxic to humans when ingested or inhaled. It is used in drinking water cisterns to control mosquitoes which spread dengue fever and malaria". It's also fed to cattle to prevent flies breeding in the resulting manure.

And you can read about Permethrin here:
http://npic.orst.edu/factsheets/PermGen.html#body

As with anything it's a personal choice and you have to weigh up the risk for yourself.

I use permethrin on all my birds as a preventive and haven't had any issues with it. My quail are going through the same thing, with mangy looking feathers and a bald spot. They have no mites or anything. With mine it's the hens beating eachother up. I hat yo watch them a while to figure that out, I blamed the male and had seperated him. A high protein food should help the feathers grow back. Maybe get some of the supplements for show birds to hurry the process along before winter. If she's still bald by winter maybe bring them into a garage or basement to protect her from wind until she recovers
