Help with a duck

Hi everyone I have been dealing with botulism in our local pond and I've found a duck on my lawn yet again and I've put it in a box with a towel. I have rung vets and bird sanctuaries around me and all are saying they want me to look after it. One of the bird rescues told me stop in and pick up some saline and syringe and tube and to give it fluids every 3 hours but no food until it can walk again I have never done this before and bit worried when putting the tube down its throat will it be ok with no food and only the saline fluid ?

Yes. We can all live without food for several days but not without water. When the duck starts feeling better it will eat.

Thank you for that it's still alive atm and neck is not droopy yet but it looks like it's quaking at me but with no sound
