I've got 2 Bantam Cochin hens that about a year and a half old and they constantly setting. I'm beginning to think they are setting for the fun of it because they aren't setting any eggs. I go out there and they are both sitting on top of one another in the top of they're feeder. I tried the cool bath approach yesterday and all that seemed to do was get me soaked as they freaked out about the water. As soon as they got out of the water they were right back on top of each other. Please help.

If you really want to break a broody, there is no quick fix. Having her sit on an ice pack or dunking her in cold water won't change her hormone level. You need to deprive her of a dark, snug, warm nest by putting her in a wire-bottom cage for about three days. It speeds things up to have a fan circulate cool air under her. Keep her with the others as being around them also helps break her.
