My mother has all of my childhood photos, and she won't share any of them. They are LONG divorced and I am not in touch with her. And there are no pics of my adult life with him, as he was always busy. We didn't get together like normal families. This is literally the first holiday I'll be spending with him in decades. It makes me sad even typing this, realizing I have no pics of him and I together.
Yes, best idea yet...but there's not much time, unless you can get it done at one of those walgreen phot places real quick.
so Dad's a tighwad who won't spend on himself huh?
Mine too
I got him a very nice electric rasor. It was on sale for 99.00 from 189.00. It recharges in 1 hour and came in his favorite color - blue!
Good luck!
We can all go raid your mom's house and steal the photos back.
Would friends/aunts/uncles/grandparents/other random people associated with your past have pictures you could borrow to copy or scan? It stinks that your mom is holding them hostage.
Ooooooo... if you could talk him into it, go HAVE a picture made together. Olan Mills or Portrait Innovations or whatever place does pictures in your area. Then you and he both would have a picture of the two of you.

oooo oooo that one! If you already got him to agree to spending time together that day, it'll be perfect to slip in a trip to thye portrait studio! Walmarts portrait studio always sseems to have some cheap deal going on for one pose or something like that if mneys a bit tight. Or grab a freind to snap some shots of you and your dad!

I would love it if I could get someone to raid my mothers house!
I've begged her, just to BORROW them to copy and return the originals, but she's a nutjob and she's very selfish and just said no. She has pics of me when I was little, holding baby chicks, all kinds of pics of my childhood and she's just hoarding them all and won't share.
I don't have any local family, grandparents are long dead, and aunts and uncles all live in various places around the country, so no time to borrow any. You do have a great idea about getting portraits done and creating our own, that would be great! I don't know if any place would do it on that short of notice though. Places around here close very early on Sundays, if they are open at all, and I don't know if they do "walk-ins", but it's a great idea that I will try to look into!
