I know it’s early but I really liked the idea of starting the thread early and posting updates for thoughts and opinions as they mature.

Here is my Blue Orpington. She was purchased from Meyer on August 19th as a day old chick so today makes her 5 weeks.
She has combs and starting to develop waddles but neither are pink or red.

She is cute! I got some blues from Meyer this year: Steele Eggers and Andalusians. I love Orpingtons, though, makes me want one.

I don’t live to far from Meyers (about a hour drive) and their emails definitely have me day dreaming of more chicks but I need more space. So self restraint is needed lol.

Hi there. I got a blue orpington from Meyer, hatched on March 11th. Here are some pictures for reference. They are spanning from March 18th to end of April. My girl was very slow maturing and just started laying eggs about a week after Labor day. Beautiful big light brown eggs!

This is so helpful! Thank you! The one pic she looks like a tiny Dino lol. So precious. My girl is also very slow maturing she’s the smallest for sure. And the most timid. I wish I would’ve gotten a lavender and buff too. lol.

I will say, HeiHei was very flighty and skittish until she started doing the submissive squat. Since laying, she has chilled out and gotten a little friendlier. Her comb and wattles developed at a later date and stayed pretty pink/tan until a couple of weeks before she started to squat. Then the color came in and both srarted to get bigger. This is my granddaughter's favorite chick, thus her name!
And because we all love chickens, here is what she looks like today!
