Help with my Blue Orpington

I will say, HeiHei was very flighty and skittish until she started doing the submissive squat. Since laying, she has chilled out and gotten a little friendlier. Her comb and wattles developed at a later date and stayed pretty pink/tan until a couple of weeks before she started to squat. Then the color came in and both srarted to get bigger. This is my granddaughter's favorite chick, thus her name!
And because we all love chickens, here is what she looks like today!
She is such a beautiful bird! Thank you for sharing. I love this breed!

Updated pics of Blu. Her comb is pale waddles are very slightly pink.

She's beautiful!! 🥰
Just got some BBS Orpingtons chicks this weekend 🥳 & for my broody buff orp. First time mama & so far she's doing a wonderful job!
Thank you for posting pics! Always fun to see how mine MIGHT turn out. Straight run from the breeder, so interested to see what I actually got: colors & gender. He had 8, I took 5.
Don't have a rooster rn (on purpose!), but willing to keep one of these if as I assume based on stats, I do have at least one cockrel & IF it has the correct temperament.
Might start a separate thread & post pics of their development in case it might help someone else down the road. Besides, who doesn't like cute chick pics? 🤗

So cute!!!!

So cute!!!!
I think so, too! But yes, I'm incredibly biased. 😉
LOVE the blue color so was trying to get some blue australorps since was told they were docile & sweet & would get along well w/my Golden Girls (BOs). & since Orpingtons are my all time favorite breed, I have a short list of options since anything that doesn't mesh with them will have to go!
But wasn't having any luck with hatcheries since I needed them in a specific window of time due to broody hen. I was SO frustrated trying to find 1-3 day old chicks locally in these crazy times where chicks are scarce, at a premium & selling out w/in hrs of arriving.
Needless to say was over the moon when stumbled upon these ORPINGTONS from a breeder only 45 mins away! Right color(s), breed & age so didn't even care about price & happily paid $12.50/straight run chick.
Brought them straight home to broody & she accepted them right away! 🥰
Now just hoping I have some pullets in the group! OK with the inevitable cockerel(s) I'll get since I don't already have a rooster. Willing to keep one if it has good conformation & a good temperament. But really don't want 5 to choose from! 😝

I have two Black australorps. One likes to jump up on my lap and survey her surroundings, like she is queen of the backyard. She likes getting some scratches/pets while doing this. When she's had enough, she very gently gets down. Very sweet and gentle. The other one doesn't mind being picked up for whatever reason but definitely doesnt do the lap snuggle.

I would think this would be the same for a blue australorps and the feather color wouldn't affect the overall temperament of the bird. Just my thoughts, I could be wrong. But based off my experience with both my Black Australorps, I would get them or try a Blue Australorp in the future.
