We have a RIR and I thought the RIW and RIR were kind of the same!
Thanks for clearing that up! So, since we ruled out the other possible breeds I think she fits the Cornish
Now I actually know what she is! Thanks!!
Rhode Island Reds & Rhode Island Whites are two seperate breeds But their size & type are exactly the same. The bird in question here bears no resemblence to a Rhode Island White other than her colour. She appears to be an Oriental of some sort, possibly a hatchery White Cornish many of which are pretty fine boned.
Nope They arent the same but trust me you are not the only to get caught up in the confusion, as NYREDS said, their size and types are very similar, but they have different standards. The name is also confusing becuase of the breeds like Rocks, Orpingtons, Wyandottes, ect................. there are lots of colors of the same breed so when people hear a Rhode Island White and a Rhode Island Red they think its the same breed like a Barred Rock and a White Rock are, but thats not the case.
So now ya know, lol it looks like you've learned alot from this thread. Now you can enjoy your white cornish hen and know what she is.
