Have you ever had to treat for coccidiosis before?

Unfortunately mites and lice can kill small chicks fairly quickly.

But this swollen eyes sounds like you might be dealing with a respiratory infection also.

No I have never treated for that I have looked up symptoms they don’t seem to have that, and yes I agree i have no idea how this is happening I clean the coops every Sunday and they were all doing great a couple of days ago I have no idea what could have happened

So I am back with some bad news. The chick died last night. And now the rest of the chicks are showing symptoms of swollen eyes and weak. Not to mention I found a black silkie had dropped dead for no reason no signs yesterday. I have no idea what I’m up against and why this is happening. Any advice?

Can you post photos of the poop and of the chicks?

Swollen eyes and weak sounds like respiratory disease.
I would still treat for the lice/mites too - those need to be taken care of.

Keep your sick ones fairly warm, try to get them drinking. If they have pus in the eyes, flush them out, remove the pus and apply an eye ointment like Terramycin.
You may need to treat them with an antibiotic like Tylan50. Some stores may still have it in stock, but Tylan50 is getting hard to find right now for some reason. Tylosin powder can be ordered online. If you have any other antibiotics on hand, let us know what you have, it may be something you can use.

Check your feed...see if it happens to have an old mill date.


Sometimes no amount of cleaning will keep mites and lice away.
Just keep treating your coop with the permethrin.

I will get some pictures tomorrow, there is no pus the eyes are just swollen , I have tylan 50 I injected orally for some of the chicks that looked really swollen, what I have is: tylan 50, vet rx, rooster booster, save a chick electrolytes. A little background I change the coop every Sunday, it never has ever gone over a week without being cleaned, I thought the venalation was good but now I am second guessing everything. I have turkeys and ducks also but the chickens really have no contact with them, they all free range.

I will take one tomorrow, they aren’t doing anything out of the ordinary as of right now they just look like they have a swollen eye or two, I will try to get it on YouTube I’m not too savvy with all of that stuff.

I put the save a chick in their water they were all drinking and eating fine earlier today

Tylan really needs to be given 3 times a day for it to work properly.
No less than 12 hours apart if you can't do ever 8 hours.
