How many you going to have? Usually if it is less than 40 or so I put 100 watt bulb on metal hanging light that can be heat lamp or clip on light Then I put towel over top of box leaving only end open so that they are warm. If the chicks are hundled under light and shivery then not warm enough, if they are panting and all then i go down to 75 watt bulb. after at least week old I go down to 60- watt bulb. Toilet paper box that toilet paper comes in is perfect size. I put it sideways and tape it up and cut side out and use it as top for them to have more room.
I tak a piece of wood that is cut longer than width of large cardboard box and take piece of baling wire and hang from stick to hold light med height in box. I put newspaper down in box with an old towel that is throw away so baby chickens are not sliding on bottom will give the splay legs if you don't I give them chick starter in feeder and water in chicken waterer and can keep them in house up to 3 wks. You roll up newspaper and throw away to change their paper.
