You know what? Don't let it get you down. It's her choice to react that way, and to see it as something that upsets her. It is also your choice to say sorry, and go about your day without letting it upset you.
I was one of those militant, uninformed feminists in my very younger days, and I used to get offended when boys in school would open doors for me. I took it as a message that I was weak and needed assistance. I have since learned that their intention was not that at all, but one of trying to be polite, like their parents taught them. I feel terrible for all the young men I scolded for opening doors when they were just trying to be nice (and get my attention!)
Maybe she was having a bad day, but you know in your heart that you are trying to be helpful, and some people just may not want any help at all. Keep doing what you're doing, I imagine you are brightening more peoples' days than you are offending.
