I actually re-homed 3 chicks today. An employee at my fav feed store has been very interested in my TJs chicks - just the story of 'em - and when she found out I also have a frizzled cochin, we started showing each other photos on our cell phones. I mentioned I had cochin eggs due to hatch (a couple weeks ago) and she said she had LF cochins, was sort of tired of the standard black cochin. So I added these are LF but "silver laced" and "golden laced" that would hatch. In the interim, they did hatch, we discussed it some, and today I went to the feed store WITH chicks to give to her.
Sold 'em for a buck apiece just to test the waters; turns out she would have paid 3 bucks apiece for 'em. Hmmm. They were not quite a week old. She has to keep them separate from the feed store hatchery stock, so she found a good box and a warm spot for 'em until she gets off work. She also offered to give me her address so I could check out her home flock arrangements, which I thought was very nice of her.
Anyway, just a different sort of experience for me. I loved walking in with a box of 3 chicks and saying, "Cheep Delivery for Amy!"
