Evening all!
Whew, what a day. Hatching babies, cleaning brooders, taking care of birds, cleaning the house, laundry...
Well, I'm down to 5 ducklings-that malposition is brutal on them. Be real careful, justme, it sounds like you have some of that going on.
I currently have a maniacal Rouen in one brooder(jackwagon cracked one of my Butterscotch eggs) and a beautiful little Black Bibbed Call in the other! Our White is hatching herself just beautifully with no help at all from me!

Justme, I hope yours do OK!
Hi, ady and Sonja!
Duck, sorry I missed you and hope you feel better.

Congrats on the black bibbed baby and the white baby:ya

What do you do for the malpositioned ones? I see big veins and yolk so I didn't dare go any further with them. They are both still moving.

That's what's been a HUGE PIA for me. Trying to get their wing and head out without rupturing the yolk sac. That's the REALLY delicate part that requires patience. You just have to carefully find the head and one wing and get it out while leaving the yolk sac protected by shell.
Thanks, ady.

I'm afraid to even try that yet with the veins still there. I see some really big ones on those 2. I guess that is probably because I am looking at the bottom end

I found the bill on 1 more but I think the last one has it's head tucked into the middle of the egg. I have 8 breathing ducklings now and I really need to go to bed. We'll see how they do overnight.

Morning all.
Hope everyone is having a good morning so far. I went out this morning and found Mrs. Piglet(my husband's White Call hen) had died through the night sometime. Very strange because she has seemed to be doing fine.

Still hoping babies in incubator strengthen up some so they can move to the brooder. So far, 2 Black Bibs in the brooder.

Justme, hope your hatch is going OK.
