hello,
I found a used jointer on Craig's List.
a 6" craftsman on a stand, 1/2 hp motor, 40" table.
googled reviews about it. reviews are over
85% 5 star with over a thousand reviews.

I read a few 3 star comments.
things like the replacement parts and shipping are so expensive.. So, what isn't expensive anymore ??
at least spare parts are available. How about that ??

just got a call from DD #1 today.
her friend, our mechanic, was diagnosed with type 4 colon cancer.. he is only 55 yrs old.. we all knew there was something wrong with him for the past few weeks.
bummer..

Today i cut a piece of plywood to cover part of the end of the hoop coop where it is covered with wire. It just seemed like too big an area to have open in the winter. So i put it on there with hinges and a hook so i can easily open it when it gets warmer.
I worked on the solar water heater, mostly just cutting pieces of wood and painting it.
And collecting twigs for kindling. May as well do it while the weather is fairly nice.

Jim, sounds like a great find on the new tool!
The Slack builders were here today about 2.5 hours and they managed to install a new door on the front of the house. So happy to have windows to let light into that front hallway!

I'll Bet!!

I love your dog, wants to hug him/her.
She is a pretty good dog, but she lets her nose get her in trouble! Always has to sniff everything! Our cats, other dog, new people, any trail she comes across. The dogs on her mother's side are mostly Search and Rescue dogs. She needs to be kept busy. I am building up arm muscles throwing sticks for her!
But considering she was a spoiled only pup and we didn't get her until she was over a year old, she has really fit in well here. Even though the property is not fenced in she does not stray.

Hi, update on the jointer.
the guy called me back. he is a retired carpenter also. says he hasn't used the jointer for awhile..
I am going to make the 1 1/2 hour drive tomorrow to pick it up.
He said it is about 35 years old.
my contractor's saw is about 53 years old.
those cast iron tools just last and last.

today was a nice day here, it is still about 40F after sunset.
I got the new door on the mailbox.
It has been hit 3 times in the past summer.

the mail girl told Annie that ours was the only one hit on her route..
