good day, good news.
the appliance store came through for me.
Yesterday I picked up the electric motor from out of a washing machine. 1/2 HP and very compact.. Perfect for the wood lathe. no charge. in fact the guy told me to check in every week if I wanted more motors.

I started gluing up panels for the mount for the window AC. It will hold the AC in without touching the window itself. No need to remove it when winter comes, and we will be able to close the window..
IF all goes as I planned.. LOL

Cappy, that coop looks a lot like the ones I built. but mine are 11 feet wide and 4 feet deep and 3 feet high on legs.. Not easy to move around. but I made forks for my tractor bucket and I can pick them up and transport them anywhere the tractor will fit

How will you seal it?
Do take pics as you go.

OK pictures ..
I have cedar siding. the casing on the outside of the window is 1x4 all around the window. I will straddle the casing and attach the mount to the siding.
the mount is red oak. Probably will paint it white.. mainly because that is the only color of paint I have on hand.
the pictures will explain all this better.

I had asked my hubby to help me build a turkey chalet..... he talked a lady into giving him this

.so we are in process of remaking it to fit our purpose.

first we had to get it home.
My son helped and they managed to remove a good portion of the rotted wood and load it on the trailer.
This picture showed it sitting on its front and the floor up, you can see we have removed all the boards that were under the floor as they were rotten

here you can see we built a new foundation to go under it and actually made it a little bigger, the building was a 6x8 we built an 8x8 foundation using 2x6 treated lumber and set it on cement blocks to help ensure that it last a long time. One of the floor boards was OK but the other was mostly rotten so we placed a newer floor board on the foundation before we unloaded the building. Now that it's off the trailer it's time to flip it around and get it into place

now that the frame is in place time to do some reinforcement's

we are going to use this back section as a feed room, the roof will be extended and walls built with nice big doors so I can leave my fermented feed outside without worrying about animals getting into it. We reused some boards that were given to us so it looks a little rough bUT it will be inside and we placed 1/2 inch harware cloth across the opening to provide ventilation without letting the turkeys into the feed.

there is much left to do. We will be making the roof a little higher and using steel roofing, the siding will also be made of steel.
When it's done it will have an attached run that will be fully enclosed 30 feet long by 12 feed wide, it's also set under some nice trees so well shaded.

Sounds really nice, keep us posted please!

I put the roof on the rabbit cage i built, so it is done. I think i have someone that will be at the swap that plans on buying it. I cut 4 legs and ripped some wood to use to build another one. And i need to put a divider in the bunny run to block the boys off from the girls. Lots to do , but when the temperature hits 96°, i mostly stay inside unless i have to care for the animals.

Nice turkey condo. I have two of them that are just going to waste. tried to sell them, tried to give them away, still have them.

good news and bad news,: electric motor.
It is in very good shape, came out of an almost new washing machine.
bad news, it turns out to be a DC motor.
there is a way to convert it to AC, but I am not that savvy with the procedure..
If I could convert it, then I could make it variable speed.
I know a guy who might help me if he feels like it..

had a busy weekend, so didn't get too much done on the window AC mount.
I have a brown cedar siding on the house.
I have white windows. wondering if I should paint the mount white to match the windows, or brown to match the cedar..
I have white paint, so white it will probably be..
I adjusted my table saw blade to be parallel with the miter slots . so I finally readjusted the fence to match the saw blade. no more rooster tail or binding.
