good evening,(almost)
I was going to weed corn today, but sitting in 82F is not my idea of fun.
just before dark I am going to water the tomatoes.
I am thinking of cloning a couple of tomatoes and putting them into pots.
then this fall I can bring them into the sun porch and see if I can get some late tomatoes.
I have a soaker hose in the veggie garden. I need to install one more for better distribution. It is hooked up to a big storage container that catches rain water from the roof of the house. Our house is on well water.

boots, I have cloned other plants, . it is easy.. being that a tomato is quite succulent, it should be easy.
there are lots of tutorials on youtube.
but what you can do is remove a sucker.
(plain leaves work , also)
immediately pull off the lower leaves and all blossoms. stick the stem into water for 2 to 3 weeks. roots will form
when they are about an inch long, put the cutting into dirt as you would any tomato transplant. a 3 to 5 gallon pot will do.
If the pot has a handle, like a 5 gal pail.
secure it in the carrying position so it is already handy when the tomato grows up around it.
fertilize as you would any transplant.
youtube has info on that, too. but some of the info is too involved for my taste.
I went out at dusk to water my tomatoes. I hadn't realized how bad the mosquitoes are. I lasted only a few minutes.
fortunately it rained real good about 1AM.

you can clone just about any living plant.
on youtube a guy cloned one of those numbered , not named, varieties .
Hunts, Beefsteak, Early girl (hybrid i think)
DD just bought a few hundred hemp clones.
they are taken from only female plants. therefore the clones will all be female, also.
and clones can be taken from these clones after they grow up..
I would like to try to get a tomato to grow all winter and then clone some branches next spring.. just because..

we had a good rain storm last night. lots of lightning and thunder.
I saw that on the radar, looked gnarly.
We are getting some rain, more later from Barry, and it's blessedly cool.
Nice break after the last few days of near 90 and before the next 5 days of 90-100.

art, check the radar of what is moving in on us right now. makes last night look like a baby..
I didn't know this was coming until a moment ago when my nephew sent a post to me.
time to go get a flashlight in my hand..

Stay safe x2! Sounds scary
