good morning,
been busy here. I built two saw horses. they look pretty nice.
DD brought me a dozen more roma tomatoes to plant. She brought along 9 self watering pots ,. all I have to do is fill them with dirt and put the plants in them,, I didn't want any more plants. It takes over an hour to water the ones I already have. but my dear wife said, sure, bring them out.
I got six of them planted last night.. Watered them in until after 9PM . the mosquitoes loved that.. I am thinking real hard who I can give the rest of the plants to..
Oh yeah. while DD and BF were here, they ''helped'' me by re taping the leaking pipe.. Now it leaks just about 3 times faster. thanks kids..
Boots, won't the perch eat the gold fish ?
Well, anyway, It was nice of you to think of me..
they always say , the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. seems to work on some women, too. She really is putting the pressure on your chickens with 18-egg cartons..
the shed is really going up fast. looks good..

Sometimes getting help is just more work :barnie

I thought of you today Jim as DP hand-lined the perch out of the pond, she did a darned fine job of it too. The pond now has a bunch of plants in it and we've put some tiny gold fish in it to eat whatever they can find.

Not sure if I mentioned it here but we ended up with 3 roosters. Carl is a jerk and Louie and Eddie are pretty cool so far. Carl is going to freezer camp for sure, but depending on how loud (and/or annoying) Louie or Eddie get, one might get to stay. Neighbor who was so against us having chickens came over to see them and admitted that even standing right in front of the coop & run, that there is no smell at all. She has also evidently considered the advantage of having ten laying hens living next door. She now gives us empty 18 count egg cartons all the time so we are good there now. Also we've had so much produce from the garden this year we've had plenty to give away to anyone who walks by too slowly to escape :) and she loves veg.
You have perch living in that pond?!

Storm hit bad here Friday night....mini tornadoes or micro-bursts or what ever.
Just got power back last evening...which means running water, ice, and fans again.
2 HUGE trees came down, luckily they fell away from the house or it could have been much worse than just a mess in the yard. A 3rd came very close and few others.
One coop window broke, wind lifted 2, props fell out and the slam shut broke one.
Again, very lucky, all but a couple tiny pieces of glass didn't come into coop.
All the shade cloths went flying, one ripped off the coop wall.

Got the shade cloths mostly fixed and the broken window removed.
Lots of ladder work, wore me out.
Hope I can get a piece of plexi to replace the old double pane.
Only working early mornings....10 days of 90°+.

I like to do things myself too, then I know exactly who to cuss out if it's wrong. The big perch sure would, that's why we fished them all out, going to have the fillets for dinner tonight.

Yup, hard to keep up with feeding them though.

Oh man, I'm so glad it wasn't worse. Good thing you have power again, that could really be a disaster.

wow Aart !! lucky you weren't hurt .. Will you have anyone to help clean up the trees?
Logging in high temperatures is no fun. Wait for cooler weather .
we had rain this morning and then again this afternoon. just over an inch here. West of us got several inches..
this morning I finished up potting the last of the nine tomatoes. then drove to my nephew's house and gave him the last three pots with four plants , total.
went to our favorite Mexican restaurant . Sign said, closed,,,,forever.. We were there on Friday. Not a hint that this was going to happen. I hope the border patrol didn't get them..

My gramps used to have a cage in the water at the end of the dock, would feed them out for a week or so before eating them.

Sounds like you got very lucky with minimal damage in a very dicey situation.
Indeed. No structural damage at all, except taht one window.....
.....just big messes where it's not in the way.

Will you have anyone to help clean up the trees?
I'll have to hire it done, could be weeks before that happens.

have a third surprise grape growing. the pot it is in was bone dry. sat outside all winter. All of these grapes were in pots of soil that I was going to just dump in the garden. It's a good thing I am such a procrastinator..
also pictures of the horses I just made. I should have taken them outside for the photo shoot.
they are stackable, too.
